Getting Ready for Santa

Getting ready for Santa! I've had these ultra 80's maybe christmas stocking panels hidden in the bottom of my stash just waiting for my motivation to make good use of them. It's finally happened. I have all eight of them cut out. I used a cute red snow globe print for the lining and some red, green and blue glittery christmas print for the backs. Now I just have to figure out exactly how I am going  to put everyones names on them. There are seven of us in the family and I have eight stockings, so I have one 'oopsie' allowed. Not too bad for thrift store fabric purchases.

As I am typing this I am waiting for my power to go POOF and out. We are having crazy winds tonight. Last check on weatherbug they were up to 47mph. The forecast says they could get up to 70mph overnight. Hopefully the electricity and the roof stay on.

 Bye for now!

Mess!

This morning the girls and I met Jenny in town for a visit to a christmas craft show. After the show we got home and were bitten by the crafting bug. Not a lot of housework was done. But a lot of creative messes were made.

I machine sewed the bindings to the front of the Neptune quilt and the little blue baby blanket. Now all these two need are the binding handstitched to the back and then it's time for my favorite step of quilt making: Washing and Drying to see the nifty crinkles on the finished product.

Pampered Pooch Done!

I finally turned the Pampered Pooch quilt top into an actual quilt :-) I added this one to my Etsy shop today.
I am really liking my second hand quilting frame I found. I did notice today that the wood table has some warp to it. I will have to re-evaluate the current table. It's just not at the top of my priority list. Sunday and Monday my little one had an icky stomach virus and then I managed to get it and have been sick since late yesterday morning. I can't be upright for very long. Gravity seems to be working overtime on me.

Downy Quilts for Kids Quilts

For some reason I have been working and cleaning and sewing here and there and not at all posting a thing to my blog. I have how ever taken some pictures along the way. Maybe hoping somehow they would just post themselves? Hasn't happened yet. Maybe they need a nudge?

Anyways, here are my two quilts for kids quilts that I mailed in quite some time ago. The red and black doggy one is from the fabric kit that they sent me. The blue and purple is one I made from fabric from my thrift store stash.

Making these quilts kind of gave me mixed emotions. On one hand it was great to be making cute little quilts for kids, but on the other hand I kept thinking about the illness and such that would warrant the use of these quilts. I do hope they make some one comforted and brighten their day a bit.

Yippee! Another project started! This one is another 'cake walk' using Moda's Neptune fabric line. I'm hoping to have this one done by boating season. (note: I'm not specifying what year. )

Lunchtime sewing kit. These are 1" hexagons that I'm making from my Moda Sampler pack. Not sure what final design is going to be however.

Here's how my New Years Eve is going. I've been working on the Christmas Quilt, needs ironed now.
Also working on the Springy Colored log cabin-like one.
And also just started a jelly roll twist quilt.
( I wonder what record for most WIP's is? )

Binding

Well, I dug through boxes and found my leftover snippets jellyroll and pieced and ironed binding from them. I have never tried this narrow of a binding so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Projects Galore

I've got projects everywhere. I have three quilts that only need binding but since I just moved I am not sure where the fabric for the binding is exactly. I was able to fight the urge to stop in at the fabric store on the way home from work to buy more fabric for binding. Instead I located a couple other quilts that have been sewn into strips and have already been ironed. I've arranged the confetti block quilt on the floor and am happy to see that I managed to get the right number of rows in the right color order. Yay! I think I'm about ready for pj's and bed so it will have to wait to get pinned together for another round of sewing. I did have a helper as seen below who was looking a little sleepy as well.
